Known for his glass “Assemblage” works, which began as an exploration of mineral forms found in nature, and evolved into its own language with references to architecture and modern art, Thaddeus Wolfe creates improvisational sculptures that are strictly one-of-a-kind due to his process and the necessary demolition of each plaster-silica mold. Wolfe layers color in his glass, then carves through the layers to reveal the stratum and interior color. Hand-blown into a heated mold, before each piece can be polished to the desired texture and reflectivity the mold must be broken, thus making every sculpture truly unique.
For RARE, Thaddeus created an "Assemblage" vase in black and transparent green colored hand-blown, cut and polished glass.
